Wah wah wah.

They provide an entire test lab for just this kind of thing through the Apple Developer Connection. And I have news for you, OS 10.2 is two releases behind the latest. I see no problem with this at all.

The problem is that a lot of people still have 10.2 and we want to make AbiWord work on OSX 10.2 if at all possible. We don't have the resources to go to Apple's test labs, but we do have some Apple hardware and a copy of 10.2. If only the Apple OS would install on the Apple hardware...

To apple's credit, its not their fault that they can't ask for every copy of OS X 10.2 back, retroactively put in drivers and hardware support for a computer that they built 3 years later, and send it back out to their users. I understand what you are saying, but its really not their fault. Do you really expect Apple to release updated versions of every OS X release when they come out with a new computer that has new hardware that was previously unsupported in an older OS release?

They could have released a hardware support CD with that machine. Sun does that with Solaris.

But no, they just want to push people to use the latest version.

I think it sucks aswell, but if you really want to debug it on 10.2, I guess you could try using pearpc, or mac on linux... Well just a thought... Keep up the good work on Abiword...

By the way, have you given up on the GTK for OSX project?

It is pretty obnoxious that OS X has such a poor set of drivers.

Releasing drivers for old versions to work on new hardware
would certainly be helpful to developers.

I think you'll be able to install 10.2 on a mac mini, if you install some linux/ppc on it first and setup MacOnLinux. The main advantage of MOL is that it runs at native speeds.

My first thought was the same as Colin mentioned, use Mac-On-Linux. Then I stumbled across Mac-On-Mac maconmac.bastix.net/. Maybe that will fill your needs.
