Why not save yourself the trouble, do it the proper way, and just go through the usual channels to ask distributions to package it?

I'll do a Mandriva package tomorrow.

You build, we package, division of labour and all that. :)

Yeah that's what I usually do: delegate to distros. Using the build service is also a way for me to learn doing RPM and because I dislike having stuff installed out of packages... (I run SuSE also).

exempi is currently in the NEW queue [1] and waiting for approval by the ftp-masters.

You can try alioth.debian.org; it provides git hosting. Also, I'm happy to replace the RSADSI MD5 code with a rewritten implementation that is licensed under the BSD or MIT License (no advertising clause, so GPL-compatible) if you want. Contact me for details.

I would encourage you to persist at freedesktop.org; it's a good fit. Over the summer it looks like bug report responses are slow, so send them a reminder a month until they respond, or use an internal contact to prod them.

For integration into KDE, it would be useful if you contacted mail.kde.org/mailman/list... to include exempi in kipi-plugins -- www.kipi-plugins.org -- a collaborative framework for several KDE image applications. DigiKam -- www.digikam.org/?q=node/2... -- one of the members of this group, is using exiv2 -- www.exiv2.org -- which doesn't have much in terms of XMP support yet; it would be far better if they would all use your implementation.

I'm not seeing the changelog on the wiki -- could you add a link?
