Projects
Free Software project I work on or have contributed in some way:
Present
Project I am specifically working on in some way.
- libopenraw, a librery to decode digital camera RAW files
- Exempi, a library to deal with XMP metadata. The current incarnation is
based in Adobe reference code, XMP SDK 4.1.1
-
AbiWord: MacOS X port maintainer, and contributor in several
areas like RTF import, Applixware import and miscellanous bug fixes. (GPL)
- gphoto2: a software to
use digital camera under various UNIX systems. (LGPL)
Past
- Ubuntu: MOTU (Master Of The Universe), i.e.
maintainer of the community supported packages for Ubuntu Linux.
- libcwk:
this one is like a challenge: documenting and implementing a
library to read AppleWorks file
format. This file format it NOT documented, at least not
publicly. Lot if reverse engineering needs to be done. It will
also include code to read MacWrite files. (GPL) This project hasn't been completed as I wanted to
persue other endeavours. Maybe one day I'll start over.
- Dia: I
have contributed a new network object, improved other objects,
provided a menu bar to diagram windows (as a user option). The
feature is available starting release 0.90 of Dia.
(GPL)
- BePDF: a port of
xpdf. I stopped all BeOS activities so I passed over the
project. (GPL)
Paying the bills
Or stuff I do or have worked on for money....
- OpenOffice.org part of the
Novell team. Working on an Free Software
project is an amazing opportunity. All the work is released under the LGPL.
- Xandros, a commercial Linux disribution based on Debian and KDE.
- Nitix, or an autonomic Linux
system as they call it. Large bits of the software is licensed under LGPL,
as well as the open source component we use.
- iCal: I got hired for
2 + 2 monthes by Apple to work on the 1.0.1 release of iCal, their
Calendaring iApp for MacOS X. I rewrote the vCalendar importer
and started revamping the printing system as well as fixing other
bugs. (proprietary)
- The Freebox software, or the Linux in the ADSL modem provided by Free.
Worked on several bits, including the DSLAM and the Freebox v3.
When I was there, no source code was released to the public.
Future
I have lot of ideas of projects to pickup. I'm no longer speaking
about them loudly, because this make people think I'm working on it,
losing my time reading their questions. What a cruel world. And given that
Copious Spare Time is not always under my control, there is nothing I can
say.
