Beside the political and privacy concerns that are being handled, it should be noted that the tax dollars are being used to prevent access to the online census to people NOT running Windows or MacOS. Even worse: if you use made-in-Canada Xandros operating system, you are also out in the blue. How can a governement discriminate a company based and operating in its own country?
