My point was that some of the very same people who participate in this "I am not afraid of people writing code" meme have attacked Hubert for writing Gnote. If they aren't afraid of people writing code, they shouldn't be afraid of people cloning their apps just like they clone Microsoft's apps.
Hey, if people want to build on Mono, more power to them. Microsoft's latest promises put it on firmer ground (and they might not have made those promises without the "anti-Mono movement"). But I think that the open source movement is better off building on its own technology, and having control if its own specs. Chasing Microsoft means you're always behind, and it means that their implementation defines correctness.
